These steps were performed largely as a
choreographed couple display. The choreographies
are uniformly awful, and not worth tracking down,
but the basic step pattern has some merit, though
it's rarely seen. The basic step rhythm is somewhat
reflected in the 3/4 time svav, and the stegvals,
for example.

I don't think these modern re-creations are quite
accurate--according to many sources, women often
wore a particular form of busk, high center front, which was
designed to provide what amounted to a handle.
This extra security in the lift, I think, opened the door
to a much higher and more perilous lift than is
attempted by modern re-creationists.
